About Merkel Composite Technologies, Inc.

Merkel Composite Technologies has developed a patented "green" composite structural panel (CSIP) for the construction industry that offers superior insulation and strength.  With additional patented enhancements, our composite structural panels can also provide life-saving and mission-critical capabilities for military applications.

Proof of Technology

Our company holds process patent US 6,117,376 in addition to two patent pending applications and will receive the final ICC (International Code Commission) Certification and the Miami-Dade Certification for meeting specifications for hurricane protection in December, 2010.

“Green” Attributes

  • Composed of renewable sugar cane based polyurethane.

  • No autoclaving means reduced energy consumption in manufacturing.

  • Reduced construction waste.

  • High insulating power: Wall panels = R-30.  Ceiling panels = R-42.

  • Hurricane protection up to Category 4.

  • High resistance to termites and other insects, as well as mold and mildew.

  • High sound insulating properties.

  • Class A fire rating - up to 4 hours.

Construction Advantages

  • Reduced construction/assembly time on site.

  • Panels are lightweight at 2.5 pounds per square foot.

  • Cost competitive with traditional wood SIP's but with superior performance.

  • Cost is much lower than with ICF, block and fiber rock SIPs.

  • Panel strength can be enhanced up to 210,000 pounds of load.

  • Light weight translates into lower shipping cost.

  • Anti-microbial and non-VOC coating makes panels ideal for use in health and food service applications.

         Unique Military Application Benefits

  • Anti-ballistic properties up to Level 4 (armor piercing) available.

  • Comprehensive EMI/RFI/EMP shielding available.

Other Merkel Construction Technology Applications

  • Rapidly repair cement/rebar bridges, roadway decking and other infrastructure.

  • Replace steel and rebar in construction applications, reducing weight, cost and spalling.

  • Reduce the weight and cost of motor homes, RV's, commercial vehicles, boats and sports equipment.
